ذات يوم ذهب الرجال الي حكيم القرية وقال له : انت اعتزلت العيش معنا و تحيا وحدك في مكان منعزل عنا فهذا قراراك ، أما نحن نعيش وسط ظلم وقهر عمدة القرية ، يرسل أبناءنا للانضمام الي الجيش البريطاني ، و يأخذ نصف المحصول و باقي المحصول يشتريه بثمن بخس ، فماذا نفعل . داعب الرجل الحكيم لحيته البيضاء الطويلة بانامله السوداء اتساخا و قال : الاتحاد قوه ، فإن اردتم شيء عليكم أن يجتمع الجميع علي هذا ، ولا تنسوا ان الاتحاد قوة .
فقال أحدهم : ماذا نفعل مع عمدة القرية ؟! ابتسم الحكيم وقال : أن ذهب علوان فسوف يأتي علوان اخر و السبب هو ، الانجليز هم من يعين ويعزل وهم ايضا من يدعمون او يسرقون او حتي يشترون ارضكم ، هم اس الفساد . فقال أحدهم : والحل ؟! – الحل بين ايديكم انتم ولكن ينقصكم قائد يوجهكم . التف الجميع حول الرجل الحكيم وقالو : انت خيرنا و افضل مننا و نبايعك علي السمع و الطاعه .
قهقه الرجل الحكيم وقال : ارائتم بأنكم السبب و الان تريدون صنع علوان جديد ، تدعمون شخصا لم تعرفه ولا تعرف خططه او اتجاهاته و السبب أنه الشخص الوحيد أمامكم . – لعنه الله عليك قالها أحدهم في قراره نفسه ثم قال للجميع : بيده أنه غير راضي عن ما قولنا . – انا اريد الحكم العامه . قالها الرجل الحكيم ، ثم فذ وقام و رتب علي كتف المتحدث وقال : أن السلطة مفسدة للجميع ، حين تتمكن منك تلك الشهوه فلا تستطيع أن تتركها ابدا ، و ما يذيد الطين بلة تلك العبيد التي تصفق للظلم لأنه من الظالم طمعا في منصب أو جاه أو مال يأتي من خلف النفاق وفي النهاية يقولون انهم مرأة العامة . قتلت المجموعة الرجل الحكيم وقالت بأن شيطان رجيم يسكن روحه النجسة ، و ذهبوا إلى حقولهم يزرعون و يحرتون الارض بالفاس حتي أن فقدوا الأمل في الحياه .
